Miguel Santos Ruiz, born in 1999, is Miguel de Unamuno’s great-great-grandson. He has followed his family traditional love for chess and is one of the most promising Spanish players. Despite his youth, he has a prominent record: International Grandmaster, European under-14 runner-up, Spanish under-18 Champion, Bronze Medal at the European under-18 Championship and Spanish under-20 top chess player. He finished second at the 2018 Salamanca Masters tournament, in which he defeated the former World Champion Anatoly Karpov.
